Western Isles 60th Anniversary website 4/7/08
NHS Western Isles today launched its 60th Anniversary Website - http://www.wihb.scot.nhs.uk/60th - to celebrate the milestone and to keep staff and the public up to date and informed about local and national birthday celebrations.
Celebrations have been taking place over the past few months, in the run up to the special day on 5th July, and events will continue throughout the year.
The aim of the Anniversary Website (designed and developed by Webmaster Mark Stainton) is to recognise NHS Western Isles’ journey over six decades across Lewis, Harris, Uist and Barra. It also gives us the opportunity to recognise the contribution of staff, professional organisations, volunteers and patients who have made the service what it is today – through a feedback facility.
This is why we are keen to gather as many stories from those who have experienced or helped shape the NHS in the Western Isles - so please share your memories with us through the website so they can be recorded, and looked back upon in years to come.
NHS Western Isles is also looking for people who were born on July 5th 1948 - the same day as the National Health Service was established, so that they can join us in the local celebration events planned.
